Social Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

This pathway builds on the momentum generated by the ESRC CDT Data Analytics and Society. Our capabilities and capacity in this area have been enhanced by significant further investment across the institutions supporting research and training at the intersection of social science and data science. Such investments respond to a market for Data Scientists with Social Science training and maximising engagements with wider UKRI investments such as the Digital Footprints programme. This pathway focusses on a breadth of real-world social science problems driving methodological research, whilst providing a natural route to exploit new algorithms and methods. Activity is typically multidisciplinary and integrating of digital footprints data to tackle a wide range of challenges related to health, social and economic inequalities, productivity and growth, environment, and city science.
